Sonia M. Minchala-Juanacio of Danbury was charged with drunk driving, refusal to take a breath test, driving without a license, failure to stop at a stop sign, and failure to maintain a lane, said Irvington PD Det. Kevin Johnson.

The crash took place around 3:20 p.m. Wednesday when Minchala-Juanacio, driving a 2013 Nissan Rouge, drove through a steel guardrail and slammed into a home at 3 Riverview Road near Circle Drive in Irvington, Johnson said.

Minchala-Juanacio, along with a female passenger also age 29, were both transported to Westchester County Medical Center by ambulance, Minchala-Juanacio for evaluation, and her passenger for assorted, non-life threating injuries, Johnson said.

Following her release, Minchala-Juanacio was taken to the Irvington Police headquarters for processing. She was released on $500 cash bail and is scheduled to appear in court on May 7.

Minchala-Juanacio's passenger remains hospitalized.

Johnson said the department is awaiting a blood test to determine Minchala-Juanacio's blood-alcohol content at the time of the crash.
